Did you know that you can get bees via Canada post these days? Yes you can, and A.B.C received one last week.
I woke up to a phone call from Canada Post saying that my bees had arrives. I quickly got up, ate, and headed out the door with Joel Woodhouse, another eager beekeeper. When we got to the post office, we were micro celebrities. I dont think that bees come through the post very often anymore. At least, not nucs.
We took the bees over to Malcolm Saunders house, the owner of The Light Cellar (where we teach our beekeeping courses) and opened up the hive to let the bees fly. We set up a feeder with organic honey from Athabasca Alberta and some river water to let them feed after their long and stressful journey.
We decided to wait until the Bees n’ Seeds event on Sunday 27th of June to hive them.
