Carmen Lamoureux is the owner and founder of The URBANFARM Permaculture Project, an evolving demonstration garden designed to showcase permaculture at work in an urban setting. The Project has been built on the foundation of an existing organically-managed mature garden and landscape in the heart of Calgary, free from pesticide and fertilizer use for the last 23 years.
With over 40 years of organic gardening experience, plus an extensive background in forestry, silviculture, soils, sustainable resource management and horticulture, as well as a certificate in Permaculture Design, Carmen is dedicated to helping emerging gardeners and permaculture enthusiasts get a great start on their journey towards living more natural, sustainable and resilient lives.
Carmen’s early years among the boreal forests of Alberta and further years spent in Africa, Europe and Japan nurtured her love and respect for the natural world and for simple, beautiful food systems and sustainable gardening practices.
Through The URBANFARM PERMACULTURE Project, Carmen is committed to offering practical workshops, design services and consultations to inspire conscious and creative solutions for regenerative local urban food production.
A.B.C is excited to be using the URBANFARM PERMACULTURE location for our March 7-8th Level One Beekeeping course in Calgary. For more information on the courses offered by URBANFARM, check out their website at www.urbanfarm.ca
