This one of a kind workshop will be taught by Dr. Savannah Howse-Smith, veterinarian and Samantha Muirhead, acting Provincial Apiculturist.

In December 2018, the Federal government enacted an antimicrobial regulation that now requires beekeepers to gain a prescription before using antibiotics. This day-workshop has been prepared to cover:

  • Veterinarian Client-Patient Relationship
  • How to find a veterinarian
  • Creating a biosecurity plan
  • Disease surveillance
  • Testing for disease
  • Treatment considerations
  • Review of drugs and medications, uses, and protocols

This full day workshop includes lunch, coffee breaks, some field observations in a live apiary and inquiry opportunities in to health and management.
