 What You’ll Learn

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand the biology of queen and drone development, and their role in colony success

  • Evaluate and select breeder colonies based on desirable genetic traits

  • Create, manage, and assess queenless starter and queenright finisher colonies

  • Apply queen rearing methods including the Doolittle method and Shook Swarm technique

  • Use tools like the Queen Rearing Wheel to plan your season

  • Identify and manage the key stages of queen cell development

  • Confidently graft larvae and manage the transfer of queen cells

  • Introduce virgin and mated queens with proper technique and timing

  • Monitor and assess queen mating success and colony acceptance
