“Today we’re going to talk about an important practice that beekeepers employ to ensure the health and vitality of their beloved honey bees – comb rotation.

After repeated use, brood combs become dark and can harbor disease organisms and chemical residues. To tackle this, you can use a simple but effective technique – comb rotation.

To keep attention on bioaccumulation in your brood nest, it is ideal to make a plan so that no individual comb exceeds 6 years of age.

During early spring, when the brood nests are small, old combs are removed, making way for new frames or foundations.

This practice provides a healthier environment for the bees, reducing the risk of contamination and promoting stronger colonies. Remember, comb rotation is a vital part of responsible beekeeping.”
